100 Years: One Woman's Fight for Justice - film screening for Eloise Cobell Day

100 Years: One Woman's Fight for Justice - film screening for Eloise Cobell Day In-Person

To celebrate Elouise Cobell Day, there will be a film screening of 100 Years: One Woman’s Fight for Justice.

The 1887 Dawes Act severely affected millions of acres of land and Native Americans for generations. In 1996, Elouise Cobell, a Blackfeet Warrior, filed the largest class action lawsuit ever filed against the Federal Government for mismanagement of Indian lands the government held in Trust. This is the story of how she prevailed and made history.

Following the film, there will be a Q&A with Anne des Rosier Grant, who wrote a model teaching unit on "100 Years: One Woman’s Fight for Justice" for the Montana Office of Public Instruction.
