The Montana Film: The First Recorded UFO Sighting in the U.S. - lecture by Jon Axline

The Montana Film: The First Recorded UFO Sighting in the U.S. - lecture by Jon Axline In-Person

In August 1950, Nick Mariana, general manager of the Great Falls American Legion baseball club, saw something extraordinary. He grabbed his hand-held movie camera and filmed what would become known as the first ever footage of unidentified flying objects, drawing the attention of the U.S. Air Force and making Mariana a celebrity. The story of the “Montana Film” involves an alleged government conspiracy and has continued to generate speculation ever since the video was made public. Join Montana Department of Transportation historian Jon Axline in exloring the mystery Mariana's film.

Jon Axline is a historian at the Montana Department of Transportation who researches and writes about Montana highways, roads, trails, and other interesting oddities.
